Description:
Small satellite meetings during ICALEPCS conferences addressing specific interest groups and selected topics of common relevance have a great potential for efficient knowledge exchange.
Examples for these affiliated meetings in the past are `Databases'/2001, `Eclipse'/2005 or `CyberSecurity'/2007.
Today the combinations of `powerful computer hardware' and `sophisticated virtualization technologies' drastically change the way we set up our systems.
For the ICALEPCS 2009 conference a satellite `Workshop on Virtualization Technologies' has been scheduled. This meeting should bring together experts of these `novel' technologies to be able to exchange experiences or interest in (successful or problematic) applications within our field.
Guided by a skeleton of presentations we had lively and very interesting discussions.
A workshop summary has been presented at the ICALEPCS 09 Monday afternoon session.
